The row of trees toward the left (above) go due north (away from the camera). Slightly to the right is Mickey O'Banion (694, 10/64) in the bright blue coat at Homecoming-2012. He is standing on the west boundary of the 2½ lot (½ acre total) space for the new Old Gal. That west boundary line runs parallel to the row of trees, north to the big bushy tree. All the visible grass behind and to the right of the alumni group is within the new Alpha Sig Property. Gale Street is in the foreground.

The alumni group (above) stands in the same place; the camera moved. That's Gale Street on the right.
The Sigma Phi Epsilon House stands on the corner (back left). The Phi Kappa Theta House stands (back center) on the corner diagonally across Gale Street and Darling Street from Alpha Sig's new Old Gal site. The cars on the right sit in University parking which will become Alpha Sig parking places exclusively at the new Old Gal occupancy. |

From the picnic next to the present Old Gal, everyone walked across Railroad Street, then across the tracks, then across the access road to the Depot restaurant. Here they are on that access road headed across the grass, then across University Boulevard, then across more grass to the site of the new Old Gal.
The man in the dark jacket and lighter pants on the grass facing the camera is the owner of the helicopter. At every home football game, that helicopter lands there on the grass, to pick him up or pick up an honored guest (big donor). It then sets down on the football field where he delivers the game ball to the officials.

The signpost on the corner of Darling and Gale Street still contains an old artist's rendering. The L-shape added too much cost, so the design has been revised. See the latest renderings on this website at >Home. See the layout of the basement and two above-ground floors at >Picture & Facts > Floor Plans.
This photo of the signpost was shot from the northwest looking toward the southeast. The signpost stands on that corner approximately where the flagpole stands in the rendering on this website's homepage.

About sixty Alpha Sigs and guests listened to four speakers predict great things for Alpha Sigma Phi on this site.
The building at the back left is Best Hall, the science building.
The main building of the present Old Gal is behind the half-visible tall tree almost visible at upper right.
((above) This is part of the group watching House Corporation Chairman Paul Ruegamer welcome everyone to the groundbreaking ceremony. President Brooks and Undergraduate Vice President Cameron Aldrich are waiting their turn to speak.
The main building of the present Old Gal just barely shows way in the background as a reddish spot above Mike Bock's head. |

Trine University President Brooks spoke to the gathering. Presently the University owns the site. The House Corporation has signed a contract with the University to exchange our present property at 709 W. Maumee Street for the new property at 110 S. Darling Street.
Undergraduate Vice President Cameron Aldrich (1152, 4/12) was working on his third shovelful as the seven men on the left (above) were deciding how to lift one foot up without getting out of breath, losing their balance, and falling over.
